Commercial Seller's Licence

These are the full terms that come with the Production Layer membership. Plain language, no small print — if something here is unclear, message me before you start selling.

01What this licence is

MB Studio models are free to download and print for personal use on MakerWorld. That does not change and will not change.

Free to download is not the same as free to sell. This licence grants you the right to sell physical items you print yourself from the covered designs, for as long as your Production Layer membership is active.

02Covered models

This licence applies to the following original MB Studio designs, and to any new original design published while your membership is active:

Not covered

Replica, dummy and concept device models — including early-look models of unreleased phones. These reproduce third-party product design that is not mine to license. Selling prints of those models is not permitted, and I cannot grant permission for them at any price.

If you are unsure whether a specific model is covered, run it through the licence check or ask before you list it.

03What you may do

  • Print the covered models on your own equipment and sell the printed items.
  • Sell online — Etsy, eBay, your own store — and in person at markets, events and retail.
  • Modify or scale the models for your own production, provided the result is still sold as a physical print under these terms.
  • Use my published product photography in your listings and promotional material.
  • Describe your listing as licensed, and use the MB Studio Certified Seller badge.

04What you may not do

  • Sell, share, redistribute or sub-license the digital files in any form. This licence covers physical prints only.
  • Upload the models, or derivatives of them, to any model platform or file-sharing service.
  • Sell prints of replica or concept device models — see section 02.
  • Use the MB Studio name, mark or branding in a way that implies you are MB Studio, or that your business is operated by me.
  • Claim the designs as your own work.

05Attribution

The covered models carry a small embossed MB mark. Leave it in place. It is how the design stays credited wherever the printed part ends up, and it is how your customers can tell a legitimate listing from a copy.

You do not need to credit me in your listing text, though it is welcome.

06Term

Your licence is valid while your membership is active.

  • When your membership ends, your authorisation to make new sales ends with it.
  • Items you already sold remain fine. Stock you have already printed may be sold through for 30 days after the membership ends.
  • A past membership does not substitute for a current one. If you resume selling, you need an active membership again.

07Things that do not replace a licence

  • Having downloaded the file before, or at any time.
  • Having modified, remixed or scaled the model.
  • Selling a small number of items, or selling at a loss.
  • Printing on behalf of a customer who supplied the file.

The file being freely available is not a sales authorisation.

08Trademarks

This licence covers my geometry and my design work. It does not grant you any rights in third-party trademarks, logos or trade dress. Your listings must not use brand names or logos you do not have rights to, and must not imply official affiliation with any device manufacturer.

Complying with marketplace rules and the law in your own country is your responsibility.

09Certified Seller directory

Active Production Layer members can be listed publicly so that customers, marketplaces and other makers can verify a licensed seller.

Listing is optional and opt-in — you are licensed whether or not you appear. Entries are removed when a membership ends, and the directory carries a verified as of date reviewed monthly.

10Support and fit adjustments

Production Layer includes direct technical support on print settings, slicing and fit, plus one tolerance or sizing adjustment per model for your production setup.

This covers dimensional tuning of an existing model. It does not cover new designs or redesigns.

11Changes to these terms

I may update these terms. Changes apply from the date posted and do not retroactively affect sales you already made in good faith under earlier terms. Material changes are announced in a Patreon post.

12Contact

Questions about scope, a specific model, or a use case not covered here: message me on Patreon or MakerWorld before you sell. Asking first is always cheaper than a takedown.
